MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Kansas State coach Bill Snyder promoted Blake Seiler to coach defensive ends on Friday, one day after wide receivers coach Michael Smith was lured away by Arkansas.

Seiler spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant after playing for Kansas State from 2004-06. He takes over for Joe Bob Clements, who was announced Sunday as the new defensive line coach at Big 12 rival Oklahoma State.

Smith announced he was leaving the Wildcats late Thursday in a statement issued by new Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema. The two of them worked on Snyder's staff from 2002-03.

It's little surprise that Snyder's assistants have been in demand. The Wildcats went 11-2 and won their second Big 12 championship this season, losing to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl.
