Flowers are a classic Mother's Day gift and florists are gearing up for a busy week of taking orders and creating beautiful floral arrangements for mothers, grandmothers and mothers-to-be.

Gardening supplies are a welcome Mother's Day gift for a mother who loves her garden. In addition to potted plants, which are a great gift because they can last for months, Chris Anderson, assistant manager at Marcum's Nursery in Oklahoma City, suggests gifts of yard art such as spinners, photographic canvases, wind chimes of all sizes, fountains, bird feeders and beautiful hand-blown glass bowls and gazing balls.
If you'd rather save money by creating your own floral masterpiece for your mom, here are some inspired ideas for color palettes and presentations, with tips from the flower bulb fans at iBulb, a group that promotes the use of flower bulbs, bulb flowers and ready-potted bulbs.
