Oklahoma pitcher Keilani Ricketts was named the Big 12 Conference’s female athlete of the year Thursday.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein was the male winner.

Ricketts was 35-1 this season, helping the Sooners to the Women’s College World Series title. She struck out 350 batters in 238 1/3 innings with a 1.23 ERA. She hit .379 with 15 home runs and 60 RBIs.

In the WCWS, she was 4-0 with 39 strikeouts in 31 inning and hit .412, earning Most Outstanding Player honors. In the final game against Tennessee, she drove in all four runs.

Ricketts won the 2013 Honda Cup as the nation’s top female college athlete.

During her career, Ricketts was 133-35 with a 1.26 and averaged nearly 1.5 strikeouts per inning.

Each Big 12 school sends nominations and selections are made based on athletic performance, academic achievement and citizenship.  A media panel and fan voting combine to determine the winners.

Ricketts is the second OU female athlete to win the award, joining Stacey Dales-Schuman, who won in 2001-02. Three Sooners have won the men’s award–all quarterbacks. Sam Bradford won in 2008-09, Jason White in 2003-04 and Josh Heupel in 2000-01.
