It’s not official, but Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant should win the NBA scoring title.

By scoring 40 points against Golden State on Sunday night, Durant increased his average to 30.1 points per game. LeBron James, sitting out his third consecutive game, is averaging 29.7.

If James sits out the Cavaliers’ regular season finale Wednesday night at Atlanta, Durant will need to average only 13.0 points in the Thunder’s final two games (score a combined 26 points) to win the scoring title.

Even if James played Wednesday and scored 40 points, Durant would need to average only 18.5 points in OKC’s final two games (score a combined 37 points) to win the scoring title.
