Kevin Durant coy about rumored relationship with WNBA player

by Darnell Mayberry Published: July 2, 2013

If he is indeed off the market, Kevin Durant is neither confirming nor denying it.

Sitting courtside at tonight’s WNBA game between the Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks in L.A., the Thunder star skirted carefully-phrased questions about his rumored relationship with Lynx guard Monica Wright.

Durant granted NBA TV a live interview during the second quarter but didn’t reveal anything more than a blush when the sideline reporter began asking probing questions about Durant’s WNBA interest.

It’s the second time in a little more than a month that Durant has attended a Lynx game. He also traveled to Minnesota to watch a Lynx home game in late May.

Wright, the second overall pick in 2010, has posted multiple photos of herself in Thunder gear onto her Instagram account, including one of her wearing a Durant jersey and another of her wearing an oversized sweatshirt and shorts while standing next to KD.

At the end of the interview, Durant reiterated comments he originally made to The Oklahoman, expressing his commitment to Oklahoma City when asked what role his new representation, Roc Nation Sports, would play in his future free agency.

Here is a transcript of the 75-second interview.

Reporter: Kevin, I know the answer to this question but I want you to tell me. This is the second game that we’ve seen you at. What brings you to this game?
Durant: I like women’s basketball.

Reporter: All right. Is there a specific player that you come to see?
Durant: I come to see all of them.

Reporter: OK. All right. So are you a Sparks fan?
Durant: Uh, I’m a Lynx fan.

Reporter: Lynx fan. OK. All right. So you’re here in Los Angeles during the offseason. What are you doing for the rest of the offseason. What’s your plan?
Durant: Well, just working on my game. Just enjoying my summer and looking forward to the next season.

Reporter: Yeah, giving some advice to the Lynx, or any specific players right now?
Durant: Uh, nah. I’m just coming to support. You know, I think more people should watch women’s basketball. It’d do so much for the game. So I’m just here to support.

Reporter: I know that you just signed with Jay-Z as your agent. Brand new agent right now, but you’re saying for sure you’re sticking around with the Thunder for a while?
Durant: Yeah, I mean I’m with the Thunder. I’m all in. I’m looking forward to the next season with them. That has nothing to do with what’s going to happen if I ever become a free agent. I’m glad I’m a part of the Thunder.
