Kevin Durant said Tuesday that he doesn’t anticipate the terms of a contract extension to take long to be consummated when he becomes eligible to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 1.

“I’m expecting to get something done,” Durant told The Oklahoman when asked about his expectations for his first contact negotiation, which can begin in earnest at midnight Eastern on July 1. “Hopefully I’ll have a deal done and something set.”

Durant, speaking from New York City while unveiling his likeness on the cover of the videogame NBA ELITE 11, said he is looking forward to July 1 and is getting excited about inking a new deal.

“It’s something that kind of shows you made your name in this league,” Durant said. “That’s one thing that is kind of personal to me because I’ve worked so hard. Hopefully it gets done. I’m looking forward to that day.”
