So much for the scoring title race drama.

Thunder forward Kevin Durant clinched his third straight NBA scoring title Thursday afternoon when the Los Angeles Lakers announced Kobe Bryant would sit out the Lakers' regular-season finale against the Sacramento Kings late Thursday.

Durant scored 32 points Wednesday in the Thunder's 106-101 loss to Denver, raising his scoring average to a league-leading 28.0 points. Bryant finished at 27.8.

Bryant would have needed to score 38 points against the Kings to surpass Durant.

Durant becomes the seventh player in NBA history to win three consecutive scoring titles. The others: Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Neil Johnston, Bob McAdoo and George Gervin. At age 23, Durant is the youngest to accomplish that feat.

“I always told myself that once I'm done playing, that's when I'll reflect on what I've done individually,” Durant said earlier this week.

Single-game tickets for Games 1 and 2 of the Thunder's opening-round playoff series will go on sale via Friday at 10 a.m.

The number of single-game tickets available is very limited. Fans are encouraged to visit the Thunder TicketExchange, which offers the most secure way to buy and sell tickets.
