Many of us grew up watching Snoopy and Charlie Brown on television specials. This was the way several generations were introduced to the timeless characters.

The comic strip featuring Lucy, Pigpen, Schroeder, Linus and ... good grief ... Charlie Brown began in 1947 and along the way spawned best-selling paperback books, greeting cards, a Broadway musical and two hit records. Remember "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron”?
To introduce these characters to a new generation, the
Edmond Historical Society & Museum is having a Kids’ Cartoon Contest in advance of the traveling exhibit, "Inside Peanuts: The Life and Art of
Charles M. Schulz.”
Edmond children are invited to create their own cartoon strip about a recent visit to the museum.
Contest forms are available at the museum, 431 S Boulevard or at
www.edmondhistory.org. Click on "exhibits.”
Submit your child’s cartoon strip to the museum by June 29. The winners in two categories, ages 4-7 and ages 8-12, will receive a trophy, certificate and a goodie bag at the opening reception for the Peanuts exhibit, 6 p.m. July 2.
