DETROIT (AP) — Fourteen days and still no verdict in the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
The jury went home for the weekend Friday, but Kilpatrick is staying in Detroit.
Kilpatrick has been under a travel ban since January after violating parole in a 2008 criminal case. In an email to his parole agent, Kilpatrick says he hasn't been to his Dallas-area home since Jan. 2, although his wife and three children have traveled to Detroit to see him.
He suggests that a fear of "public and media scrutiny" is the reason why the agent won't lift the travel ban.
Kilpatrick says "parolees are human beings" who need to stay connected to family.
