Shakespeare in the Park will present “King Lear” Thursday through Sept. 28. The play stars Hal Kohlman as King Lear, Erin Hicks-Cheek as Regan, Julie Devine as Cordelia and Mandee Chapman-Roach as Goneril.
The production is directed by Kathryn McGill.
Oklahomashakespeare.org describes “King Lear” as Shakespeare at his most profound, an ancient tale of a king and his three daughters. Both an intimate family drama and explosive political commentary, “Lear” explores the most basic questions of human existence: love and duty; friendship and betrayal; leadership and loyalty; destiny and the overwhelming inevitability of a life nearing its end.
“King Lear” will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through Sept. 28 at Myriad Gardens Water Stage.
“A Day with Shakespeare” is a student matinee with workshops. Tickets are $6 and the events are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Sept. 18, 24 and 25.
Tickets prices are $15 for general admission.
Discount tickets are available for $10 for students, seniors, members of the military and groups of 10 or more.
