HOBART- Kiowa County commissioners will decide on Monday whether county residents should vote to lift the countywide ban on the sale of liquor by the drink.
If approved by the commission, voters will decide the issue in November's general election. If approved, it won't be the first time voters were given this choice — in 2004 the measure was defeated 680-620. Proponents say lifting the ban on alcoholic beverages sold by the glass will help bring business, tourism and entertainment to the county, which suffers from a declining population. But some opponents say the issue is morally and ethically wrong and would bring money to the county at the cost of increased alcohol-related deaths.
