ZURICH (AP) — French defender Laurent Koscielny has been cleared to play in his nation's World Cup opener after FIFA set his suspension at one game for a red card.

Koscielny was ejected in injury time of Les Bleus' 2-0 loss at Ukraine last month after pushing Oleksandr Kucher in the face and knocking him down.

FIFA said Monday its disciplinary committee decided against a longer suspension than the automatic one-match ban. Koscielny served the penalty in the second leg, which France won 3-0 to qualify on 3-2 aggregate.
