A Walmart employee accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the store where she worked was charged Wednesday in Pittsburg County District Court.

Dierbourn Michelle Mutch, 32, of Krebs, is accused of writing and cashing 96 checks totaling $45,755 to the store’s cash office. She was charged with one felony count of obtaining cash under false pretenses, according to court documents.

Mutch, an assistant manager at the store at 432 S George Nigh Expressway, cashed the checks in a payment advance agreement with the store but never repaid the money, McAlester police Sgt. Chris Morris said.

The check cashing scheme took place between December 2011 and April 2013, according to court documents.

Mutch was booked into the Pittsburg County jail and was released Wednesday on $5,000 bail.
