CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles beat D.C. United 4-1 on Wednesday for its third straight win, moving within three points of the lead in Major League Soccer's Western Conference.
The Galaxy built a 3-0 lead at halftime. Alan Gordon scored into an empty net after just 63 seconds, Omar Gonzalez got on the end of a Landon Donovan corner in the 25th minute and Baggio Husidic redirected a cross in first-half stoppage time.
D.C. United pulled a goal back in the 58th minute, but Donovan snuffed out any hopes of a comeback by the visitors by converting a penalty in the 75th minute.
The Washington club missed a chance to build on its one-point lead atop the Eastern Conference.
