Children and adults can make holiday decorations from nature during workshops at the Discovery Cove Nature Center at Lake Thunderbird. The center is on Clear Bay Boulevard, across from the Turkey Pass campground.

The first workshop is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Others will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 and 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 22. An encore session of selected projects will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 23.

The first project at each session will be suitable for children ages 4 and 5. The other projects are aimed at ages 6 and up, said naturalist Kathy Furneaux. Fee is 50 cents for a child doing only the first project, otherwise the cost is $2 per session.

Other activities this month include eagle watches set for Dec. 15 and 29. Participants meet at the nature center for an information session, then tour the park to catch a glimpse of eagles in their winter homes.

Eagle watches require reservations, and participants are urged to dress appropriately with warm clothes and comfortable walking shoes. To register, call 321-4633 or email crowssecret@sbcgobal.net.
