BARTLESVILLE — Authorities in Bartlesville say remains that were found last week in a landfill are not human.

Shawn Anderson, the general manager of Osage Landfill, says rumors started flying after sanitation workers made the discovery on Thursday. Officials say one of the decomposed remains resembled a human hand.

But Anderson tells a localnewspaper that the state medical examiner determined the remains were two feet and a paw — all belonging to a bear.

Investigators say they spoke with a local taxidermist who said he'd prepared several bears recently.
