Lankford's reply to constituent came up short

Published: August 24, 2013

I attended U.S. Rep. James Lankford's town hall meeting on Aug. 13. A woman complained to him that her son had received a call from his insurance agent with the message that his health insurance premium was going up significantly. Lankford's response was, “You will be hearing this a lot.” Lankford did his constituents a disservice by failing to mention that the woman's son, as a small-business owner, may qualify for the expanded small-business health care tax credit that would offset his premiums.

Additionally, Obamacare provides for “free preventive care.” This means the insured's co-pays and other out-of-pocket expenses will be significantly lower. Furthermore, the online exchanges will give him the opportunity to shop for a less expensive policy.
