LAWTON — A Lawton man charged with murder after his accomplice died during a home invasion has pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge.

Jeffrey Karr was to go on trial this week for the 2009 shooting death of Michael Wermy. A local television station reports that Karr pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy to commit robbery and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Karr's case ended in mistrial in 2010 after jurors deadlocked.

Court and police records say Karr, Wermy and another person were attempting to rob a home in northwest Lawton when a gun Karr was using to beat one of the robbery victims accidentally fired. Wermy was shot in the face and killed.
