Lawton's fifth homicide of the year reported

Police in Lawton, Oklahoma are investigating a homicide, a local TV station reports. The case is the fifth homicide of the year.

LAWTON -- The death of a 23-year-old Lawton man is now being investigated as the city's fifth homicide this year, a local TV station reports.

Police were called to an apartment at NW 19th Street and Hoover about 7:30 a.m. Thursday on a report of a man who had slipped and fallen on the ice, station KSWO-TV reports.

The victim, James "Jimmy" Kemp later died at the hospital. Police said his death did not appear to be an accident.

Investigators remained at the scene throughout the day Thursday, but details remain scarce about what led up to the victim's death and the motive for the crime, the station reports.

Crime scene investigators combed the area Thursday.
