Like a beloved 80’s outfit tucked in the depths of a closet, some retailers are hanging on to their layaway programs, dusting them off when the season is right.

Recently, some stores have been advertising layaway to appeal to cash-strapped consumers looking for a way to afford back-to-school necessities.
