Q&A with Doug Fuller, president and chief operating officer of Quail Creek Bank
Q. How do you keep employees in the loop?
A. This is a constant struggle for all businesses. How do we handle?
Workplace — We are very dedicated to having one location to facilitate better communication, responsiveness and keeping our culture.
Technology — Through e-mail we are constantly communicating work-related messages, upcoming events and both joyous and sad occasions of our banking family.
Meetings — Monthly we hold a “Q-munications” meeting where all employees gather in the bank lobby to learn of new products, services, technology, bank direction and any other beneficial information. Our strategic plan is also a living, breathing document where all officers meet monthly to participate and review the plan and monthly goals.
Q. How do you listen to employees?
A. We have several employee committees that provide opportunities for creativity, brainstorming and planning both events and new products for the bank. Quail Creek Bank has such a “family atmosphere” that employees feel at ease to walk into the CEO's office to discuss ideas, problems or suggestions at any time. You can walk into our lobby and feel the warmth and caring which translates to great customer service. Our customers love Friday cookie days, the Easter egg hunt, the spooky costumes during Halloween and the Christmas party for our Quail Classic members.
Q. How do you appreciate employees?
A. Our Entertainment Committee plans special events each month, including breakfasts, lunches, friendly cooking contests and family picnics. Quail Creek Bank recognizes that our success is a direct result of the great people who work here. We also offer continuous further education benefits in the form of seminars, webinars, in-house education, lunch and learns, etc., all to encourage further participation in their banking careers. Finally, every month we hold a “Quail Cash” meeting to recognize work anniversaries and reward employees with cash incentives for new business and jobs well done.
