EDMOND — Attorney Todd McKinnis of Edmond said his key to surviving the rat race is to be selective when he says yes.

The 41-year-old real estate attorney works between 50 and 60 hours a week at his Edmond law firm, and he and his wife, Amy, have four children between the ages of 7 and 13.
McKinnis also is board chairman at Oklahoma Christian School, and he volunteers his time with Edmond Futures and the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. He’s also active in Faith Bible Church.
“The key for me is there are a lot of opportunities to do a lot of things,” McKinnis said.
“I try to stay in the area that has the most direct impact on our family.”
McKinnis has chosen to practice law about a mile from his house, something that saves him time he would spend driving if he worked for a big firm in downtown Oklahoma City.
“If I need to leave in the middle of the day, I can,” McKinnis said. “A school lunch that would turn into a two hour deal is 45 minutes instead.”
