Legislature spent time finding ways to give our money away

Oklahomans must elect legislators who'll keep their promises to eliminate the state income tax. Kansas has kept its promise to taxpayers. Gov. Sam Brownback signed the largest tax cut in Kansas history. The bill cut the income tax to 4.9 percent from 6.45 percent and eliminated income tax on small businesses. Here, promises are all that we get.

Republicans dominate the Legislature. We don't need a bond issue to repair the Capitol and replace the medical examiner's facility. We have $566 million in the Rainy Day Fund. Capitol repairs are estimated to cost $200 million and the ME's facility would cost $42 million. It's time to use common sense and take care of these state emergencies. That's what the Rainy Day Fund is for.
