Let's 'hangout' and discuss Oklahoma stories

Hey Oklahomans, I’d like to invite you to a Google+ hangout Wednesday to discuss stories.

The event will not be streamed online. I just want to hear your thoughts on the stories we’ve been writing for The Oklahoman. I’m also interested in the stories you think we should be writing.

Here at OPUBCO, we want to serve as the fabric of our communities and their various interests. To do this, I’d like to hear from you and what you think might make for an interesting story.

Do you know someone in your neighborhood who has a unique background? Do you ever wonder why some things in the state are the way they are? Or do you have an issue in your community or neighborhood that you would like to see addressed?

I want to hear about all of these things and more.

Think of the hangout as a community story budget meeting. Usually, reporters will write budget lines and present them to editors for consideration in the paper. I plan to do the same with your ideas. I’ll take notes during the hangout, craft your stories into budget lines and put them in front of reporters and editors.

Your voice is important to us, and we want to make sure it’s heard.

We’ll get started with the hangout at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. You can follow me on Google+ and join the hangout here.

Google only allows 10 people on at a time, so I’ll have to ask people to hop off after pitching their stories to allow more people to participate. My goal is to get to as many people as possible.

If you’re interested in pitching your story in text, you can submit it here.

I look forward to chatting with you all.

- Tiffany
