MADISON, Wis. (AP) โ€” Babies born in Wisconsin in the past few years can expect to live about 80 years.

The state Department of Health Services says the life expectancy for babies born between 2009 and 2011 is just over 80 years. Girls born in that period are expected to live to an age of 82ยฝ, while boys can expect to live just under 78 years.

The data were part of a report released this week on death rates in Wisconsin in 2011.

The report found that 37 deaths that year were reported as due to injuries at work. That was a substantial improvement over the 57 work-related deaths the previous year.

However, the number of baby deaths increased about 9 percent, from 393 in 2010 to 427 in 2011.
