Loehmann's CEO to appear on "Undercover Boss" Friday

Anyone remember the Loehmann’s store at Memorial and Portland in Oklahoma City? It was long before the area was as busy and developed as it is now, but it was there, tucked way back in a business park, if I remember correctly.  Odd choice for the location, but who cares with designer merchandise at marked down prices. And the famous Back Room.

The store closed, so I went back to visiting the one in the Dallas area when I was there. I think that store has closed, too. I hit up the Loehmann’s in NewYork City a couple of times, but it never made my regular shopping rotation.  It has been years since I’ve been in a Loehmann’s. Too many other similar concepts, I guess, or I’m just better at hitting sales for those higher-priced items.

But that doesn’t keep me from looking forward to seeing the CEO of Loehmann’s on “Undercover Boss” at 7 p.m. Friday on CBS.

Loehmann’s has 39 stores in 11 states, and CEO Steven Newman went undercover in several roles, including order processing at the Loehmann’s Distribution Center, visual merchandising, personal shopper and sales associate. I understand there’s a potentially awkward moment when he had to help female customers shop for bras. Perhaps I’m shopping in the wrong stores, but I have never seen a male sales associate in the bra department.
