JRB at the Elms will feature “Special Places,” a collection of vibrant landscapes by Regina Murphy through Dec. 28. The show will open with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 7 at the gallery, 2810 N Walker. The show will run through December 28, 2012. An assortment of Small Works by 50 gallery artists also will be on exhibit.
“Initially Regina’s paintings are quite disarming, as we relate intellectually to what is familiar in the painting. But then suddenly her presentation of altered reality causes us to feel. That ability to use form and color to generate those special feelings inside us is Regina’s gift as an artist,” said owner of The Elms, Joy Reed Belt.
Murphy is a longtime resident of Oklahoma City. She has studied at Oklahoma City University, Louisiana Tech, and in Rome, Italy.
Murphy’s work is included in many private and corporate art collections throughout the United States including those of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Arthur and Patty Newman, Dee and Joseph Wambaugh; Integris Medical Center, Oklahoma City; Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, Shawnee; Presbyterian Hospital, Oklahoma City; and the State of Oklahoma Permanent Art Collection.
