“Open carry arrives without any incidents” (News, Nov. 2) didn't surprise me. The only ones looking for or maybe even hoping for an incident were the media. I understand the law enforcement concerns, but did they contact agencies in the other states where open carry is already practiced to find out their experience? With 141,000 concealed-carry permits that are now “carry permits” in Oklahoma, I imagine most people will go through their day and not see more than a couple of weapons out in the open.
Who are these folks who may be carrying a weapon either concealed or in the open? They're law-abiding citizens whose backgrounds have been checked by law enforcement. These folks are your parents, your brother or sister, your neighbor, your minister, your kid's teacher or just about anyone you come into contact with.
