Line up to learn square dancing in Edmond
If you don’t know an allemande left from a do-sa- do, I’m sure you will enjoy a free open house hosted by an Edmond square dance club.
Anyone who wants to learn more about square dancing is invited to the Teacup Chain’s dance at 8 p.m. Jan. 3 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 E Danforth Road. Dress is casual; smooth-soled shoes are recommended. The club promises you can learn enough steps to do a dance that evening. If you become hooked, square dance lessons will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday evenings from Jan. 12 through March 26 at Edmond’s Multi-Activity Center. The cost for 20 lessons is $20. To enroll, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 359-4630 or enroll online at www.edmondok.com/parks/rec. The deadline to enroll is Jan. 7. Perhaps you would like to be part of the band at a square dance. You can learn basic guitar techniques and several songs during this beginning guitar camp. Classes begin Jan. 14 and run through April 29 at the Multi-Activity Center. Bring your guitar, music stand and electronic tuner. This class is for age 9 and older. The Multi-Activity Center is at 2733 Marilyn Williams Drive, at the west entrance to J.L. Mitch Park on Covell between Kelly and Santa Fe.
