PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. (AP) — All service on Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch is temporarily suspended after a person was struck by a train.

The railroad says the accident occurred east of the Smithtown station early Wednesday morning.

All service is suspended between Port Jefferson and Huntington.

The condition of the victim and the time of the accident were not immediately known.

LIRR advises customers to use the Ronkonkoma Branch or travel to Huntington Station for westbound service.

It says buses will be provided.
