HUNTER HUDSON, CHANDLER
The story: Seminole State signee was a force at the plate, hitting .411 with 18 doubles and 40 RBIs to lead Chandler to the Class 3A state tournament.
HUNTER PINKSTON, DALE
Position: First base
The story: Pinkston hit an impressive .465 with 11 homers and 42 RBIs, while also having a big-two run single in the Pirates’ memorable seven-run rally in the bottom of the seventh Class 2A title game.
JACK BLUMENTHAL, HERITAGE HALL
Position: Second base
The story: The Chargers’ leadoff hitter did his job, hitting .465 and opening 12 of the first 14 games with a hit. He also had nine extra-base hits and 13 steals.
XAVIER LANHAM, DALE
Position: Third base
The story: The second part of Dale’s hard-hitting duo, Lanham drove in 41 runs while hitting .398 with four homers and 16 doubles. He also had a run-scoring single in the memorable rally to win the Class 2A title.
KYLE BOTTGER, BETHANY
The story: Bottger was the anchor for the Bronchos as they made the Class 4A state tournament, driving in 52 runs behind six homers and .380 batting average. The North Central Texas signee also had 18 steals and recorded four saves.
DYLAN ADAMS, NEWCASTLE
The story: After a stellar junior campaign, Adams followed with an impressive power display. He hit 12 homers and drove in 60 runs, while hitting .400. Twenty-five of his 44 hits went for extra bases.
COREY CUPP, TUTTLE
The story: Cupp was a key offensive player for the Tigers as they won the Class 4A championship, hitting .417 with three homers, 16 doubles and 31 RBIs.
KYLE ROBERTS, HARRAH
The story: Roberts missed his junior season due to a hip injury, but returned to lead the Panthers with a .486 average, 12 doubles and 34 RBIs. He also pitched, posting a 4-4 record in nearly 49 innings of work.
JOSH MCMINN, UNION CITY/SOUTHWEST COVENANT
Position: Designated hitter
The story: McMinn, a Little All-City basketball player, was spectacular on the diamond, hitting .626 with seven homers and 50 RBIs. He was equally as dominant on the mound, posting a 0.81 ERA and a 9-2 record with 122 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings.
JESUS GAMEZ, DOVER
The story: Gamez was the ace of the Longhorns’ two-headed monster on the mound alongside Junior Obeso. He went 6-2 with a 1.16 ERA and 123 strikeouts while leading Dover to the Class B state semifinals.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
CONNOR LITTERELL, TUTTLE
The story: The Tigers’ big-game pitcher, Litterell went 10-3 with a 1.66 ERA and 112 strikeouts. He won Tuttle’s opener in the Class 4A state tournament and closed out the championship win.
COACH OF THE YEAR
JERRY SANFORD, DALE
The story: Sanford is no stranger to winning baseball championships, winning four with the recent group of seniors, but none were more impressive than his Pirates rallying from a seven-run deficit down to their final out and strike against Silo before winning in extra innings.
