Oklahoma football: Bob Stoops previews weekend game vs. Notre Dame

Undefeated and coming off a bye week, the Sooners are rested up for a monumental showdown in South Bend on Saturday against Notre Dame. Bob Stoops previewed the game at his weekly press conference on Monday.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops downplayed the importance of this weekend's matchup vs. Notre Dame during his weekly press conference, but he was quick to praise what the Fighting Irish have done this season.

"Traveling to Notre Dame this week will be a big challenge but an exciting challenge," Stoops said.

"Defensively, (Notre Dame) is still very good and physical up front. Structurally sound and disciplined with how they play."

But Soops downplayed the importance of this game on the Sooners' overall season.

"Winning this game, one way or the other, isn't going to do much for the rest of the season," Stoops said.

He then corrected himself saying that it would help the team's momentum going forward.

Stoops and the Sooners travel to South Bend to take on Notre Dame on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised on NBC (Cox 4).
