•Brill on top: Mark Brill remains atop the pro stocks points standings after earning his second A feature win Friday in as many starts. Brill edged
James Beane and is tied for first place with El Reno native
Jared Hicks.
Speaking of Brill, anyone who wants to see old-fashioned, back-in-the-woods racing should attend Saturday night racing at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker. Once known as County Line Speedway, the Brill family has turned the old track into a diamond in the rough. The dirt track features high-banked turns, one that leads to a wooded area should a flipping sprinter make it over a cinder block retaining wall. Champ sprints,
USA modifieds, modifieds, factory stocks and mini stocks race each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Brills are preparing to open a new concession stand and restrooms.
For directions to the track, go to brillmotorspeedway.com or call (405) 769-6927.
•Runaway cars: Two drivers are dominating respective divisions at
Lawton Speedway. Mustang driver
Robert Sellers has a 280-point lead over
Shawn Bloomquist of Cache in the championship sprint division. Through three race cards,
Sellers, a perennial contender at
State Fair Speedway, has three heat wins and three A feature victories in Lawton.
Travis Bragg of Duncan has an eye-popping 630-point advantage over
Kyle Bridges of Lawton after four factory stock cards.
Bragg has two heat wins, and he has triumphed in all four A features.
Lawton Speedway runs each Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
•Winless but winning: While reigning super and champ sprints points titlist
Chris Burns is still searching for his first super sprint A feature win at
State Fair Speedway, he is atop the division's points standings.
Burns has placed in the top five in all three feature races this season. He has a 90-point lead over
Larry Neighbors. The super sprints are idle this week and will return May 2.
