Q: What made you want to sing and play?

A: Bryan Eastridge, lead vocals and guitar: This is the remains of a rock band I used to play for. We never could find a singer. I decided I could sing the more country stuff. I wanted to do the more edgy Texas country/ Red Dirt country.

Q: Who are your influences?

A: On the big scene, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Dierks Bentley and Reckless Kelly. My good friend in Brother Outlaw Band influences my guitar and vocals.

Q: How much different are you musically than when you started?

A: As far as genre, not much — skill-wise, way more proficient.

Q: How long does it take to get good or really good at guitar?

A: Anywhere from a year to ... I've been playing 20 years. Somewhere in that time frame.

Q: Where does your inspiration come from?

A: For the most part we are a cover band. Any time something catches us we put our own spin on it.

Q: What of your own music says the most about your band?

A: We have one tune called "My Time to Run." The lyrics hold true to everyone in the band at some point with an ex-wife or ex-girlfriend or a habit or an addiction. (It's) about coming to the end and realizing you have to go. That one probably means the most.

Q: Do you play mostly for fun?

A: Yes and no. Mostly, we're in on the big cover scene right now. That's the only way to get this rolling, especially in Oklahoma ... if you're doing good covers and keeping a good crowd, then you progress into playing your own music. Most places around here don't want to hear an hour of original tunes.

Q: Do you think it's a problem that there are too many bands trying to play too few venues?

A: No, what's making everyone suffer is bands that go out and play five hours for $100. That's making everyone suffer.

Q: What do your bandmates bring to the table? How's the cohesion?

A: David (Anderson), our other guitar player, has a wealth of songs and vocals. Everyone in the band sings and everyone has their own unique style as far as their vocal qualities. Our bass player, Frank (Self), he's a wealth of experience. He has played in the local scene of Arkansas for years. He can play anything. He doesn't have to sit down and learn it. He's a solid foundation. Our drummer, Walker Mathews, is just bad. He studied jazz percussion for years. We can literally listen to a CD on a break and play a song note for note without ever hearing it before. Cohesion comes with time and experience. Right now our cohesion is really good.

Q: What's behind the name?

A: Walker is the drummer and I'm a cop. It just went together.
