A man was arrested in Logan County on complaints that he assaulted his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter, sheriff’s deputies reported Monday.

Jonathan Lee Goodman, 30, was booked into the Logan County jail on complaints of assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, child abuse and domestic abuse by strangulation, according to a news release from the Logan County sheriff’s office.

The arrest happened shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of S Western Avenue when authorities received a call related to a domestic battery complaint.

Deputies encountered Goodman in the residence threatening suicide with a rifle, the news release states. Goodman eventually left the residence without incidence.

After Goodman’s detention, his girlfriend and her daughter told deputies that he had thrown, punched and choked the 4-year-old as well as choked and threw objects at his girlfriend, authorities report.

Goodman also refused to let the woman and child leave the house and shot off two rounds from the rifle before the two could escape the home, deputies said. Neither the woman nor the girl were struck by the gunshots.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation were able to collect evidence consistent with statements given by the girlfriend, authorities said. The state Department of Human Services is also investigating the incident, the news release reported.

Deputies said Goodman was being held Monday on $250,000 bail. has disabled the comments for this article.
