BOSTON (AP) — Logan International Airport in Boston is reminding travelers to check with their airlines before heading out the door.

Massport Aviation Chief Ed Freni (FREE-nee) says about 30 percent of flights had been canceled as of midday Thursday even though there had only been a few inches of snow. Most of the cancellations were due to a snowball effect from issues at airports in the South. Some airlines were able to bring in planes overnight to help.

They're hoping to get things cleared up before Friday, when many people will start traveling because Massachusetts schools have February break next week.

Beau Jordan Marshall of Lyme, N.H., is trying to get to Washington to see his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. His flight has been canceled but he's hoping to make it out Friday morning.
