PHOENIX (AP) - If things don't work out with Sacramento, Patrick Ewing Jr. could be joining the Harlem Globetrotters. At least they picked him higher.

The iconic exhibition team selected the Georgetown forward with the top pick in its second annual player draft Wednesday, 23 years after his Hall of Fame-bound father was the No. 1 selection in the NBA draft.

Last week, the Kings took him 43rd overall in the NBA draft.

The Globetrotters also selected Arkansas' Sonny Weems, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's William Bullard, Siena's Tay Fisher, Oklahoma's Longar Longar and Auburn's Donald Thomas.

Weems won the college slam dunk championship this year, beating Bullard and Ewing — who both received perfect scores in the competition.

"When evaluating draft prospects, we look for players that bring special skills and the personality to potentially be Harlem Globetrotters," coach Clyde Sinclair said.

Each of the six players will be invited to training camp in the fall to compete for the chance to join the Globetrotters for their 83rd consecutive season of touring the world.

Ant Atkinson, the Globetrotters' top selection last year, made the team after an All-American career at Barton College.

I don't know if he is still there but a few years ago, former OU football trainer, Jeff Nunn worked in senior management for the Globetrotters
