The new Longhorn Network has picked up the Oklahoma State-Texas men's basketball game at 6 p.m. Jan. 7, but that game also will be available to be carried in Oklahoma.
Big 12 spokesman Rob Carolla said as a third-tier game, the Cowboy Sports Network could make arrangements to televise the game from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. OSU athletic spokesman Mike Noteware said Learfield Communications is considering making it a local broadcast.
The OSU telecast is one of three Big 12 men's games that the Longhorn Network plans to air. The other games are home dates against Iowa State at 8 p.m. Jan. 24 and Texas Tech at 6 p.m. Feb. 4.
The Longhorn Network's schedule of nine nonconference men's games includes Boston University on Nov. 13, Oregon State on Nov. 19, North Carolina State or Vanderbilt on Nov. 21, Sam Houston State on Nov. 26, North Texas on Nov. 29, Texas-Arlington on Dec. 6, Texas State on Dec. 10, Nicholls State on Dec. 13 and Rice on Dec. 31.
The network has yet to generate many viewers in Texas. Although it is available in more than 4 million homes, most of those are Verizon FIOS TV subscribers outside of Texas.
