"It's one of those things were I didn't want to go back and forth," Blake Bell said. "I know it was a tough deal when Sam (Bradford) got hurt and Landry did a great job coming in. I'm just going to come in and see what happens."
The combination of OU's recent offensive success and the relationship he developed with OU quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel was more than enough to keep Bell committed. And the success of recent Sooner quarterbacks like Bradford — a Heisman Trophy winner and projected NFL first-round pick — was another strong draw.
"That was one thing I liked about coach Heupel," Blake Bell said. "He can make a quarterback, Sam going in, he was average (as far as recruiting rankings) but he's unbelievable now with what coach Heupel has done with him."
Said Mark Bell: "There's no secret what the quarterback position does down there. They've won more than one Heisman at that position and they surround you with quality athletes. You see that and you get excited."
