Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores on Friday will start celebrating the grand openings of six new compressed natural gas fueling stations around the state.

Love's plans to add CNG at 10 of its Oklahoma locations this year as part of its partnership with natural gas advocate Chesapeake Energy Corp.

The first grand opening will be Friday in Chickasha, one of five Love's stores currently offering CNG.

“We recognize the importance of expanding our fueling options to meet the diverse needs of our customers,” said Jenny Love Meyer, Love's vice president of communications. “As more and more corporate and government entities convert their fleets to CNG, we believe demand on the commercial and consumer side will escalate accordingly.

“We are pleased to partner with Chesapeake to improve accessibility for CNG, a fuel produced in Oklahoma.”

Love's began selling CNG in Kingfisher in February 2011. It has since added the alternative fuel at stores in Chickasha, Norman, Guthrie and Altus.

Spokeswoman Kyla Turner said Love's will add CNG at stores in Lawton, Pauls Valley, Okemah, Guymon as well as two Oklahoma City locations by this summer.
