Lows, highs and the drought in today's weather blog

The colder temperatures recorded at Oklahoma Mesonet sites on this Thursday morning were in eastern Oklahoma. Stigler recorded a low temperature so far today of 21.2 degrees and Antlers of 21.7 degrees.

In looking ahead at the Oklahoma City forecast from the National Weather Service, Norman Forecast Office, the high temperatures roller-coaster at 56, 62, 73, 71 degrees Thursday through Sunday, then 52, 48, 49 for Monday through Wednesday.

And, the new U.S. Drought Monitor report came out today (Thursday). Reflecting conditions through Tuesday, 29.88 percent of the state is experiencing some form of drought. That’s a slight change from the 30.5 of last week. The portion of the state in drought is primarily in areas of the Panhandle, western and southern Oklahoma. The report showed 2 percent in exceptional drought, the worst of the categories and that area can be found in southwest Oklahoma.
