Machete-wielding robber in Tulsa takes fries instead of cash

A worker at an all-night hamburger restaurant got rid of a machete-wielding robber early Thursday by giving him french fries in place of cash.

A worker at an all-night hamburger restaurant got rid of a machete-wielding robber early Thursday by giving him french fries in place of cash.

Police said a man walked into the Whataburger restaurant at 5726 E. 41st St. and asked for fries, but didn't have any money to pay for them. When the clerk wouldn't give him the food, the man pulled out a large machete and demanded cash from the register.

The employee told the robber he couldn't have the money but offered him the fries, instead. The man, who was described as a regular customer, took the food and left.
