For brothers Michael and Zach Cody, island getaways are actually part of the job. The two operate the scuba shop, which also offers training, repairs and organized scuba trips. In a busy year, Scuba Bros trains 350 divers; in slow years, about 175 people learn to dive.
Their dad started a scuba business in the 1970s, which they inherited last year and changed the name from Adventure Sports to Scuba Bros. The brothers use their own outdoor training lake, located 30 minutes from Oklahoma City.
They also travel to Lake Tenkiller State Park to train. Both are certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
Scuba Bros' retail shop and classroom are inside the Lighthouse fitness facility.
Their scuba training package includes all rental equipment, training materials, training and free, unlimited access to the pool.
“We really want people to be confident, safe divers who have fun with the sport,” Michael Cody said.
