Leading dark horse candidate: Clinton
Why the Red Tornadoes can pull it off: Because Delans Griffin appears back and healthy.
Clinton lost by 12 to eventual 4A No. 1 Weatherford, by eight to Anadarko without Griffin and by one to Tuttle — also without Griffin.
With a healthy Griffin, Clinton appears to be just as dangerous as ever, even if the record doesn't indicate it with three undefeated teams sitting at the top of the class.
Clinton has been solid but not spectacular without Griffin, the Texas Tech commit. When Griffin is healthy, though, he gives the Red Tornadoes an explosive presence wherever he is on the field that elevates the rest of the Clinton offense.
Other candidates: Purcell, Roland.
