Malloy wishes Connecticut Olympians luck

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is wishing eight athletes with Connecticut ties good luck as they compete in the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Four of the eight — Julie Chu from Fairfield, Max Pacioretty from New Canaan, Jonathan Quick from Milford and Kevin Shattenkirk from Greenwich — are hockey players. Mac Bohonnon from Madison and Eliza Outtrim from Hamden are skiiers. Nineteen-year-old Tucker West from Ridgefield is the youngest ever member of the U.S. luge team.

Outtrim is the first to compete, placing fourth Thursday in the qualifying round of women's moguls.

Malloy called the athletes a "talented, exceptional group of Olympic competitors."
