AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn coach Gus Malzahn thinks quarterback Nick Marshall "should be in the mix" for the Heisman Trophy.

Marshall has led the third-ranked Tigers into the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday against No. 5 Missouri with clutch plays and an increasing proficiency in the offense.

His latest big play was a touchdown pass to Sammie Coates to tie the game with 32 seconds left against No. 4 Alabama.

The junior college transfer hasn't put up gaudy stats but he has delivered game-winning touchdown passes in the final minute against both Georgia and Mississippi State.

Now, Marshall faces a quarterback-harassing Missouri defense that just shut down Texas A&M's 2012 Heisman winner Johnny Manziel.

Marshall has passed for 1,627 yards and rushed for 922 and now has one more national showcase.
