MUSKOGEE — A man accused of kidnapping, beating and raping a woman was arrested at a Muskogee hospital parking lot, said a Muskogee County sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday.
Douglas Lee Sail Jr., 34, of Porum, was taken into custody Tuesday morning on complaints of aggravated assault and battery by strangulation, kidnapping and firstdegree rape. He remains in the Muskogee County jail on no bail, said Coletta Peyton, Muskogee County deputy.
Sail is accused of choking the 28-year-old victim with his hands, hitting her in the face several times, and raping her in a deserted field, she said.
After the attack, Sail returned the victim back to the residence where she was staying, Peyton said. The woman was later taken to a city hospital where she was treated and released, Peyton said.
Deputies had alerted Muskogee Regional Medical Center security officers to be on the watch for Sail after they received a tip he would be arriving at the hospital, she said.
Sail was an acquaintance of the victim who had been staying in the Muskogee County area for a few weeks, Peyton said. The victim told deputies Sail showed up at her workplace Monday afternoon and demanded to talk to her, she said. The victim got into Sail’s pickup where he drove around for hours in the Muskogee County area, Peyton said.
