McALESTER — Authorities in Oklahoma have arrested an Arkansas man who allegedly tried to run over a sheriff's deputy in Longtown.

The Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to pull over 39-year-old William Gregory of Glenwood, Ark., for a traffic violation on Thursday. Authorities tell a local television station that Gregory allegedly tried to run over the deputy with his pickup truck and drove away.

Authorities say the deputy was not injured.

Gregory was arrested in Pittsburg County shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday. Authorities did not know if he had an attorney.
