An accused drunken driver was arrested Wednesday on allegations that he rammed a car and beat it with a hammer during a road rage incident.

George Cameion Meese, 28, is accused of ramming the vehicle with his pickup five times as they traveled on U.S. 169 after an encounter near Interstate 244 about 6:30 p.m., police said.

Meese reportedly followed the car as it exited the highway at 11th Street, where it stopped near the exit ramp. He then got out and began hitting the car with the hammer and a tire tool while shouting profanity in slurred speech, an arrest report alleges.
