Man dies after leading Warr Acres, Oklahoma City police in a pursuit

The man who led Warr Acres and Oklahoma City police officers in a pursuit has died at a hospital, Oklahoma City police reported.

The pursuit began about 8 p.m. at a Dollar General store in Warr Acres after a vehicle was stolen, police Capt. Dexter Nelson said.

Oklahoma City police joined the pursuit near NW 50 and Meridian Avenue. The chase ended near NW 61 and Quapah Avenue, Nelson said.

Officers reported the man got out of the vehicle and would not respond to police instructions. Officers used Tasers and bean bag guns to try to subdue the man. The man turned around with a large knife and approached officers and officers fired at the man, Nelson said.

The man was taken to a hospital where he died, Nelson said.
